You have probably heard this story before: Good Morning America is the most-watched weekday morning news show, Today reigns supreme in the news demo and CBS This Morning continues to improve on its 2015 averages. This story held true for the week of June 27.
Despite finishing No. 1 in total viewers and improving from the previous week, GMA was down 5 percent from the same week in 2015 (week of June 29) and down 15 percent in the news demo.
Today was No. 1 in the A25-54 demo, a title it has claimed for 43 out of the past 44 weeks. The program was up 6 percent in the demo year-over-year, but fell one percent in total viewers.
CBS This Morning was up 10 percent from the same week last year, both in total viewers and in the key news demo. Will CTM ever catch GMA in the demo? Can it catch Today in total viewers? This is starting to become a three horse race, thanks to significant improvement from CBS This Morning.
