morning show anchors_640Good Morning America wins another week in viewers and the Today show continues to win the A25-54 demo, but No. 3 CBS This Morning is the only network morning show to see growth compared to the same week last year. This was also CBS’s largest weekly audience in the time period in 22 years, since March 1994.

At the Television Critics Association winter press tour on Tuesday, co-anchor Charlie Rose called CTM “the best possible format” for morning talk shows. Gayle King added: “We have figured out a way you can be entertaining without being silly. Vapid and CBS do not go together,” she said.

CTM, while still a distant third (GMA had a +46 percent demo lead last week), was up +8 percent in viewers and up +9 percent in the demo, vs. last year, while Good Morning America was down -10 percent in viewers and down -18 percent in the demo. The Today show, too, was down: -6 percent in viewers and down -2 percent in the demo.
