Morning Show Ratings: Week of December 23 & Q4 2013

MorningShowNEWABC’s “Good Morning America” ended 2013 with its most-watched quarter in more than 22 years, since Q4 1991. It also had its best performance in the A25-54 demo since Q1 2007.

“GMA” has won the last six quarters in Total Viewers and the last five in the news demo. “CBS This Morning” had its best Q4 in viewers in 19 years.

“CBS This Morning” showed the most total viewer growth compared to Q4 2012: up +16% while NBC’s “Today” had the most A25-54 demo viewer growth: up +13%. “GMA” was up +12% in viewers and up +11% in the demo vs. last year.

The averages for Q4 2013:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 5.690M / NBC: 4.975M / CBS: 3.044M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 2.148M / NBC: 2.074M / CBS: 1.034M

Compared to the same week last year, “GMA” was up +5% in viewers and up +10% in the demo. NBC’s “Today” show was flat among viewers and down -8% in the demo. “CTM” was up +2% in viewers and down -13% in the demo during the holiday-shortened week.

Because of Christmas, all shows are based on a 3-day average (Monday, Thursday and Friday).

The averages for the week of Dec. 23, 2013:

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 4.893M / NBC: 4.037M / CBS: 2.609M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.778M / NBC: 1.407M / CBS: 829K
