Morning Show Ratings: Week of April 25

morning-show-anchors_640-846x836Good Morning America stood as the No. 1 morning newscast in total viewers (4.961 million) for the week of April 25, 2016, based on Live + Same Day Data from Nielsen. The program was up 1 percent in total viewers and 2 percent in the news demo (A25-54) from the week of April 18. Unfortunately, results weren’t quite as positive on a year-over-year basis. The program was down 7 percent in total viewers from the comparable week in 2015 (week of April 27, 2015), and down 14 percent in the news demo. Despite the year-over-year decline, GMA has built on its total viewer performance from the previous week for 6th consecutive weeks.

Today once again finished as the No. 1 morning show in the key news demo, averaging over 1.8 million adults 25-54 for the week of April 25. Today was up 3 percent in A25-54 from the week of April 18, and down less than 1 percent from the comparable week in 2015. Today finished No. 2 in total viewers (4.696 million), even with the previous week’s average but down 2 percent from the comparable week in 2015. Today has been the No. 1 morning show in the demo for 34 out of the last 35 weeks.

CBS This Morning maintained the No. 3 spot in total viewers (3.825 million) and A25-54 (1.139 million), but the program is continuing to improve. The total viewer average from this past week is a 2 percent improvement from the week of April 18, and a 3 percent improvement from the comparable week in 2015. The A25-54 performance is quite strong as well. CTM experienced a 2 percent improvement from the previous week and a 6 percent improvement from the comparable week in 2015.
