Morning Show Ratings: Week of Jan. 30

morning-tv-tvnewser_2016Similar to the evening newscasts, ABC, NBC and CBS morning shows lost viewers from the comparable week in 2016 (week of Feb. 1).

ABC’s Good Morning America was once again the No. 1 weekday morning show of the week in total audience, but posted year-over-year declines of -8 percent in total viewers and -15 percent among adults 25-54 from the same week last year. Season to-date, GMA remains the No. 1 morning newscast in total viewers, leading Today by +119,000 (4.656 million vs. 4.537 million) to take the top spot at this point of the season for the 5th year in a row.

NBC’s Today was the No. 1 morning show in the key A25-54 demo this past week, a title it has now held for 58 consecutive weeks and for 74 of the last 75 weeks. Its demo wins over GMA have now reached 5-year highs, season to-date. That said, NBC’s morning show had a mediocre week relative to last year, both in the demo (-15 percent) and in total viewers (-10 percent).

CBS This Morning remained No. 3 this past week, but saw less of a year-over-year decline than its competition. CTM was -5 percent in total viewers, and -2 percent in the news demo compared to the week of Feb. 1, 2016.

  • Total Viewers: ABC: 4.603M / NBC: 4.366M / CBS: 3.786M
  • A25-54 viewers: ABC: 1.503M / NBC: 1.680M / CBS: 1.084M
