‘Morning Joe’ Rises in Chicago, Oprah Winfrey Interview on Tap

MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” will originate from Chicago this Friday as Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski interview Chicago’s most famous resident (for now): Oprah Winfrey. Joe, Mika and Willie Geist will host the show from RL (as in Ralph Lauren) Restaurant along Chicago’s Magnificent Mile.

Other guests include Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), former White House adviser and now returning Chicago resident, David Axelrod, the Rev. Jesse Jackson, Vanity Fair special correspondent Maureen Orth, and her son, NBC News correspondent Luke Russert.

NEW YORK –February 3, 2011 – MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” will broadcast live from Chicago on Friday, February 11 from the popular RL Restaurant. In a rare live interview, Oprah Winfrey will join “Morning Joe” anchors Joe Scarborough, Mika Brzezinski, and Willie Geist on set.

Additional guests from Chicago include Illinois Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL), Obama Senior Advisor David Axelrod, Rev. Jesse Jackson, NBC News’ Tom Brokaw, NBC News correspondent Luke Russert, Vanity Fair special correspondent Maureen Orth, and business leader Christie Hefner.

The show will focus on President Obama’s Chicago roots, the 2012 Obama re-election campaign, and the latest news from the windy city.

Chris Licht is the executive producer of “Morning Joe” (6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. ET).

The broadcast will be closed to the public. RL Restaurant will resume normal business hours at 11 a.m. local time.
