More Creative Clip Editing, This Time on Fox News

By Alex Weprin

Sigh. Remember yesterday when we noted how MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” cut off Mitt Romney as he spoke about going to a WaWa convenience store, effectively changing the meaning and point of what he was saying? Well, “The Daily Show” caught another creative edit, this time on Fox News Channel’s “Hannity.”

One big caveat: Andrea Mitchell Reports is classified as a news show on MSNBC, not an opinion show, which made the incident that much more controversial. The Fox News clip was on “Hannity,” which is an opinion and commentary show, and thus apparently has a longer leash when it comes to these sorts of things.

Update: worth noting that the original Hannity piece, which I have embedded after the jump, was a 10 minute segment that also featured FNC contributors defending Obama’s stance on the issue, not a one-off designed to mock him, as the MSNBC one appeared to be.
