Mississippi, Alabama Primary Coverage Ratings

By Chris Ariens

As primary nights go, the Mississippi, Alabama and Hawaii contests were probably the least-covered weekday GOP face-offs so far on the cable networks. Fox News and MSNBC stuck to their regular programs last night with a heavy dose of exit poll and vote count coverage. CNN was in primary overload coverage with Wolf Blitzer and the gang for much of the night. Fox News produced a Bret Baier-hosted 11pmET special. And MSNBC stayed live in the 11pmET hour and part of the Midnight hour with Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell.

Here are the primetime (8-11pm) as well as 9pm-MidnightET averages.

  • Primetime (8-11pmET) Total Viewers / A25-54 viewers

FNC – 2,361,000 / 532,000 A25-54
CNN – 1,038,000 / 351,000 A25-54
MSNBC – 1,105,000 / 297,000 A25-54
