Mike Rowe’s Big Break Began with a Bar Bet and a Pencil

This is one of those, “a guy goes into a bar” stories. In this case, the guy is Mike Rowe longtime host of Discovery Channel’s Dirty Jobs, who now presides over CNN’s Somebody’s Gotta Do it. Early in his career he worked as an opera singer. In later years, he would use his baritone as the voice of ABC’s World News with Diane Sawyer. But in between, Rowe had “hundreds and hundreds” of jobs. But as for that First Big Break, it began in a bar.
