MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski discussed a segment on Tuesday morning’s Fox and Friends, saying “I’ve never seen a more awkward interview in my life.”
Airing a clip of the Fox News interview, which featured Donald Trump talking about Alicia Machado, a former Miss Universe who was brought up in Monday night’s debate by Hillary Clinton, Brzezinski said she was stunned none of the Fox co-hosts called Trump on his sexism.
“How could two men and a woman, in this day and age, who know the world that we live in, not say ‘that is incredibly inappropriate’?”
In the interview, Trump–who had previously referred to Machado as “Miss Piggy” for gaining weight and “Miss Housekeeping” in an apparent reference to her Latin roots–called Machado “the worst we ever had. The worst. The absolute worst. She was impossible…she was the winner and she gained a massive amount of weight and it was a real problem.”
The Morning Joe panel saw the comments as a significant problem for Trump. “‘Miss Housekeeping’ … is just as lethal to Donald Trump as ‘Miss Piggy is,” said Mike Barnicle.
