Brian Williams: “Tonight American voters decide the direction of their nation. By this hour, almost all of the shouting is over and all eyes tonight are on the American electorate.”

Charles Gibson: “Good evening. This is going to be a fascinating night. An election day is always a great day for a democracy. Katie Couric: “Hi, everyone. Well, it’s election night, and voters all over the country are deciding who will control the new Congress.” After summing up the balance of power, Couric said: “Polls are still open in much of the country.
