Michelle Gielan Leaving CBS News

By kevin

With the announcement that Betty Nguyen is joining CBS News as a correspondent and anchor of the “CBS Morning News,” comes word that current “Up to the Minute” and “CBS Morning News” anchor Michelle Gielan is departing the network.

In an email to colleagues early this morning, she said, “I have spoken with the bosses, and will be leaving CBS in the next couple of months to pursue some exciting things!” She said she would be able to announce the details of her next move before her departure from the network.

Her email after the jump.

Hi everyone!

I just got done telling my team at Up to the Minute, and I wanted to share the news with all of you as well. I have grown to be such good friends with so many of you, and I wanted you to hear it from me!

I have spoken with the bosses, and will be leaving CBS in the next couple of months to pursue some exciting things! It has been an incredible experience here anchoring Up to the Minute and the CBS Morning News, and being a correspondent for The Early Show. You are a wonderful group of people (especially the overnight folks!), and it has been a pleasure working together.

As soon as we nail down an end date… there will of course be a party! By then I should also be able to spill the beans on my next move.

Thanks for making my time at CBS great!

Michelle
