Meredith Vieira’s The View Homecoming

By Alissa Krinsky

This morning, Meredith Vieira made her return to The View after leaving the program a year ago. The Today show co-anchor greeted the gang with a cheeky “So how are you crazy bitches?!” Other quotables from Meredith:

• Her ‘high point’ at Today so far: “Probably the variety of the show…you can be interviewing Sen. [Hillary] Clinton one minute and the next minute you’re baking a pie.”

• Her ‘low point’: “When I fell on the ice at the rink with Will Ferrell.”

• Whether she’d take a war reporting assignment: “I wouldn’t be inclined to do it. I never say never…I do think in terms of my family…Wartime correspondents, they’re a particular breed of people, and they’re wartime correspondents for a reason…The worst thing you can do is go to Iraq and use it as sort of a backdrop, and play correspondent for the day, carefully protected, and then leave. And I’m not suggesting anybody has done that, but for me to fly in and fly out, what does that prove?”

• Waking up on time for Today: “I have two alarm clocks. One goes off at 2:00, one goes off at 3:00, and then Richard hits me about 3:15.”
