Memorial Service in Fort Hood, Texas

This afternoon, the memorial service was held in Fort Hood, Texas to remember those who were killed in the shootings last week.

Here’s how it looked across the cable nets as everyone waited for the official start:

Update: Official procession began at 2:39pmET. President Obama and the First Lady arrive.

MSNBC simulcasts the NBC broadcast, which began at 2pmET and is anchored by Brian Williams. Fox Business Network is also carrying the memorial.

Update: CBS’ Katie Couric and ABC’s Charlie Gibson anchor special reports for their respective networks at 2:53pmET to carry President Obama’s remarks. Some FOX stations also carry the remarks. HLN not carrying the service live, but providing updates.

Obama names each of the victims and gives a little background. He says, “And for what he has done, we know that the killer will be met with justice — in this world, and the next.” (Full prepared remarks)

Update: CBS returns to programming at 3:10pmET and ABC does the same shortly thereafter. NBC stays with the service through the roll call, 21 gun salute, and final farewells.

Update: Before signing off, Gibson apologized for earlier referring to President Obama as “President Bush.”

At 3:15pmET, the feed cut out briefly, with Shepard Smith saying, “The signal from the memorial service has gone down to all of the networks.” CNN used audio from a different microphone while Smith and Williams covered until the signal was restored.
