Megyn Kelly Defends One CNN Reporter, Knocks Another

On Fox News Channel’s Kelly File Wednesday, Megyn Kelly came to the defense of CNN correspondent Sara Murray, who–like Kelly herself–had been blasted by Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.

In an interview on CNN’s New Day, Trump said of Murray “I think she’s absolutely terrible,” and suggested Murray didn’t show a long line outside a Trump book signing event because “she’s incompetent or she doesn’t like me or maybe she’s given instructions from up above…there has to be an agenda someplace at CNN.”

Kelly described Trump as “ornery as ever against reporters who don’t cover him exactly as he wants to be covered.” Kelly said she’d reviewed Murray’s reporting on Trump, found it “very fair,” but said some cable news networks are to blame for giving Trump “an unfettered arena to assault the press.”

Kelly also specifically called out CNN’s New Day co-host Chris Cuomo, who conducted the Trump interview Wednesday morning, for asking if Trump felt he was being fair during the interview. “You have reporters like Chris Cuomo, in this instance–where the reporter interviewing Trump in the moment says, ‘Am I fair, do you think I’m fair, I’m fair though right, do you think I’ve been fair in this interview?'”
