‘Meet the Press’ Producer Adam Verdugo Joins ‘CBS This Morning’

By Merrill Knox

Adam Verdugo, a top producer for NBC’s “Meet the Press,” is jumping ship to CBS News, where he will be the senior producer for “CBS This Morning,” Politico’s Dylan Byers reports.

Verdugo has been the senior producer for “Meet the Press” since 2011. Before that, he worked at NBC News as a producer and as an assignment editor. His departure marks the second major leadership change for “Meet the Press” this year: in June, Betsy Fischer Martin left her role as senior executive producer to focus on her role as managing editor of NBC News political programming. As our sister site FishbowlDC notes, Martin called Verdugo “the BEST Sr. an EP could ever ask for” in response to news of his CBS hire this afternoon.

Verdugo’s start date has yet to be announced. Licht’s note to “CBS This Morning” staffers is after the jump.

Team:

I have exciting news to share: Adam Verdugo is joining CTM as a senior producer.  Adam comes to us from Meet The Press, where he was the senior producer, touching every aspect of that broadcast.

More to come very soon on his specific role, but in the meantime please join me in welcoming Adam to CBS News.
