‘Meet the Press’ Meets America

By Merrill Knox

Meet the Press“Meet the Press” is unveiling a new series with NBC News correspondent Kevin Tibbles to take politics “outside of the Beltway and into the Heartland.”

“Meeting America,” which kicked off last week with a report from Iowa, will look at how political decisions made in D.C. affects the day-to-day lives of Americans. This week’s report will be from Steele City, Nebraska, the starting point of Phase II of the Keystone XL pipeline project.

“Our goal is to translate what’s going on in Washington, DC, and show the real impact on constituents across the country,” executive producer Rob Yarin said in a statement. “Politics isn’t just about politicians — it’s about real people and real life outside the halls of the West Wing or Capitol Hill, and ‘Meeting America’ allows us to give a national platform to voices we don’t normally hear from on these issues.”
