On November 6 America’s longest-running TV show will mark its 70th anniversary. So this morning, NBC’s Meet the Press kicked off what will be a year-long celebration of the show. “Take that Bart Simpson,” Chuck Todd said referring to the longest-running prime time program on TV.

Todd began the celebration of 70 with Tom Brokaw who is marking 50 years at NBC News with a special airing tonight. Brokaw first appeared on Meet the Press in 1973.

“Meet the Press as I was growing up the high church of Washington talk shows,” said Brokaw to Todd, “And I’m very happy to report, and I do do this in a completely nonpartisan fashion, you have maintained that standard all along.”
