“NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams nearly tripled its margin over ABC’s World News Tonight during the May 2005 sweeps compared to last year’s sweep period,” NBC’s press release says. NN averaged 8,588,000 viewers, compared to 8,267,000 for WNT and 6,583,000 for CBS.
ABC says that World News Tonight “won the May sweep among key demo viewers outperforming “Nightly News” by 10,000 Adults 25-54.” Both networks had 2.3 ratings; NBC says ABC tied.
