May Ratings: Summary

By Brian

May ratings in a nutshell: Only FNC and Headline News are able to avoid dwindling viewership; CNN posts year-over-year losses in primetime and total day, but the network says it is still “narrowing the gap;” MSNBC is lacking momentum, and its demo numbers are low, but CNBC’s numbers are worse; Nancy Grace is the #1 draw for Headline News, but viewers are tuning in around the clock.

It leaves me wondering: How can CNN possibly compete with FNC when its primetime shows are beaten by Fox’s daytime programs? (Or is that not the goal at all?) How much longer can MSNBC drift without moving the needle? Where will Headline News go from here? More ratings posts tomorrow…
