May Ratings: FNC Posts Primetime Gains

By Brian

FNC “continued its dominance over CNN by posting the largest Prime Time viewership increases of all major cable news networks for May 2005 vs. May 2004,” the network’s press release says today, citing Nielsen, but ignoring Headline News, which posted an 82% increase.

> FNC has now been #1 for 41 consecutive months. FNC beat CNN, MSNBC, CNBC and HLN combined in primetime, again.

> Greta Van Susteren’s show continues to excel: On The Record averaged 1,396,000, up 31%.

> Update: 11:36pm: From a tipster: “In May prinetime, Fox was up 152,000 viewers while HLN was up 143,000. So I guess when Fox said it ‘continued its dominance over CNN by posting the largest Prime Time viewership increases,’ they were correct afterall…including HLN increases. Nice try in using percentages, but an increase on a low number is still low.”
