Matthews: “Unpredictable & Irrepressible”

Chris Matthews “violates practically every accepted rule of broadcast journalism,” and Jon Friedman loves it. “Not only does he seldom smile, he actually frowns a lot and can look almost unhappy. This demeanor runs in contrast to the majority of fresh-faced, well scrubbed TV stars (of both genders, by the way) that seem to have gotten a doctorate in the discipline of Happy Talk.”

More: “Matthews can seem wildly unpredictable and irrepressible. His mind processes thoughts so rapidly that his tongue sometimes seems to be struggling to keep up.”
