Mark Kelly Named Space and Aviation Analyst for NBC, MSNBC

By Mark Joyella

Later today, astronaut Scott Kelly is scheduled to launch from Kazakhstan for a one-year stay aboard the International Space Station, and covering the historic mission for NBC is Kelly’s brother, retired astronaut Mark Kelly.

Kelly has signed with NBC News and MSNBC as a space and aviation contributor, and the former shuttle commander appeared on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” Thursday night. The Earthbound Kelly has volunteered for a series of medical tests over the next year, comparing his body to that of his twin brother’s on the ISS–the results will be used to determine how the human body reacts to long periods in space, part of planning for a manned trip to Mars.
