Mark Hamrick Elected President of NPC

By Chris Ariens

The National Press Club elected Associated Press broadcast journalist Mark Hamrick as its 104th president last night. Hamrick is the first broadcast journalist to serve as president since John Aubuchon presided in 2002. Hamrick, who formerly served as the Club’s Vice President, will be sworn in during a black tie gala on January 29.

Hamrick says he will focus on member retention and recruitment with an emphasis on diversity during his term in office. The NPC is the world’s leading professional organization for journalists. Hamrick is a national business and financial news reporter for the AP based in Washington, DC.
