Major Garrett on MSNBC talking Juan Williams

FishbowlDC writes up an appearance Major Garrett made on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” today (he’s not on MSNBC that much) to talk up the relaunch of National Journal and NationalJournal.com, but the Juan Williams NPR firing dominated the conversation.

“I may have what you call a unique point of view,” said a slow smiling Garrett, former White House correspondent for Fox News. Garrett just recently moved from FNC to NJ, switching from TV journalism to print. He admitted that while working for FNC, “Some would say, ‘I can’t believe you work at that network. I love you’re work, I just don’t like where you work.’”

And Mediaite picked up this part of Garrett’s interview:

Mark Halperin asked Garrett how much FNC is going to use this to its advantage. “I don’t think it’s any coincidence that the day it happened, he got a huge contract at Fox,” said Garrett. “Fox planted a flag in the ground saying, ‘he’s ours.’” Also: “That is an embedded part of Roger Ailes‘ DNA.”
