Facebook announced a new live video streaming product today and NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt is one of a handful of launch partners. Holt is the only journalist among celebrities including Dwayne The Rock Johnson, Serena Williams, Luke Bryan, Ashley Tisdale, Martha Stewart, and Michael Bublé.
For his first installment, Holt sits down at a fountain across from Rockefeller Center (a usual lunch spot) and enjoys a chicken and avocado sandwich from Pret a Manger. The TV veteran offers viewers a glimpse of Manhattan and, after a few seconds of technical issues, chats with a mother-daughter duo who are passing by.
The fans recognize Holt from “the murder show,” but are quickly told, “we don’t call it the murder show, we call it Dateline.” Holt is then approached by someone from “that other network.” The whole thing is fun and shows Holt’s genuine personality. Check it out:
