The Office of the Governor of California and the California Museum has announced that NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt will be among the newest class of inductees into the California Hall of Fame.
Holt will join actor Robert Downey Jr, artist David Hockney, martial arts superstar Bruce Lee, space pioneer Ellen Ochoa, musician Buck Owens, cartoonist Charles M. Schulz and Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi for the Oct. 28 ceremony in Sacramento.
“These talented individuals with their unique set of accomplishments show the best of California,” said Gov. Edmund G. Brown. “Their creativity and perseverance are a real inspiration.”
The Nightly News anchor went to high school and college in Sacramento and his parents still live in the area. He worked at NBC affiliate KCRA as an intern while in high school. In May, he received an honorary doctorate from Sacramento State University (where he attended but left before graduating).
