NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt is in Ojai, California today, a mountain town roughly 75 miles north of Santa Monica well-known for its boutique hotels and New Age spiritual retreats. The town has been hit hard by the wildfires that continue to run rampant across Southern California.
But Holt was fortunate to experience a fun moment today during what has been two straight days of reporting on despair and devastation.
He ran into some firefighters from his Northern California hometown of Rancho Cordova who made their way to Ojai to help out. Rancho Cordova, located east of Sacramento, is about a six-hour drive from Ojai. Quite a hike!
