NBC Nightly News anchor and Dateline NBC co-host Lester Holt is well-known in media circles for his prowess on the bass guitar. Holt and his band Lester Holt and The Rough Cuts, showed off their talents last night in a public performance at the New York restaurant Hill Country.

Holt and The Rough Cuts, all of whom are NBC Newsers, played to a crowd that included staff from both NBC Nightly News and Dateline. Spotted in the room was NBC News correspondent Harry Smith, Nightly News ep Sam Singal, Dateline ep Liz Cole, Dateline senior ep David Corvo as well as son Stefan Holt, who happens to be an NBC 4 New York reporter and anchor.

The set mostly consisted of rock tunes, including The Rolling Stones’ Gimme Shelter and Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk for the encore performance.
