Lester Holt Among Time’s 100 Most Influential People

By Mark Joyella

NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt has been named one of the world’s most influential people, joining the list assembled annually by TIME magazine. The 2016 list was released Thursday morning.

“He seems trustworthy, more than anyone else on television,” writes astronaut Scott Kelly, who compares Holt to Walter Cronkite:

Watching the nightly news from space can be kind of a disturbing experience because you are so detached from Earth. Having been on the International Space Station during this crazy election season made me think, Seriously? What are you people thinking down there? So it’s good to have someone you can turn to for news that you know is not biased.

Holt is the only network newser to make the list, but he was not one of the six people who will appear on the magazine’s cover–Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicki Minaj, Mark Zuckerberg and wife Priscilla Chan, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Christina Lagarde and Priyanka Chopra.
