Kinney Named CNN Chief Photojournalist

Jeff Kinney has been promoted to director of field production/chief photojournalist for CNN.

Kinney started at CNN in 1987 as a video journalist. He was promoted to photojournalist in 1992. Since 2003, he has served as the photojournalist manager in NY.

“Jeff will spend the majority of his time in the DC bureau where in addition to management oversight of DC’s field production staff and operations he will also represent the interests of the CNN Newsgroup as Chief Photojournalist,” according to an internal announcement today. “Jeff is charged with leading our field production efforts and strategies, upholding our high standards of Photojournalism, field equipment selection, testing, training, and the continued growth and development of CNN’s Photojournalists across the country.”
