Kimberly Dozier To Couric Critics: “Back Off”

By Alissa Krinsky

Correspondent Kimberly Dozier, in Orlando, Florida to receive the Helen Duhamel Achievement Award from the Association for Women in Communications, talked with the Orlando Sentinel’s Hal Boedeker about her CBS colleague, Katie Couric.

“She has been incredibly supportive of me, my reporting and telling my story,” Dozier told Boedeker.

And on the subject of Couric’s critics: “We are so eager to beat up one any one of us who gets to the top of the parapet… They’re taking snipes at her personally.”

“Dozier was appalled,” Boedeker writes, “that Couric’s makeup was criticized when the anchor covered the Virginia Tech massacre.”

“She was covering the news,” Dozier said. “Back off, people. That’s not fighting fair.”
