Kennedy : Thursday Broadcast Network Plans

Today’s schedule for Sen. Edward Kennedy’s memorial services: 1pm Motorcade to Boston, Approx 4pm Arrive at JFK library in Boston, 6pm-11pm Sen. Kennedy will lie in repose at the library.

The network coverage plans are as follows:

  • ABC’s Charlie Gibson will anchor portions of the motorcade in special reports as well as “World News” from the JFK library in Boston.
  • CBS will have a live special report when the motorcade arrives in Boston, but could feature break-ins earlier. The special report will be anchored by Russ Mitchell in New York. Tonight, Katie Couric will anchor “Evening News” from Boston.
  • NBC tells us that, for the most part, MSNBC will cover the daytime events. On “Nightly News,” Lester Holt will anchor from the Kennedy Library with Andrea Mitchell, Kelly O’Donnell and Mike Taibbi reporting. (A TVNewser tipster tells us Brian Williams is out tonight because he’s taking his son to college.)
