Katrina: The Broadcast Networks Are Becoming Less & Less Important

“By shunting Katrina coverage off to cable, [the broadcast networks] are saying it is not that much of a concern for the rest of America,” Aaron Barnhart wrote yesterday.

This morning an industry insider disagreed: “The broadcast nets no longer carry the weight to make a story important which is why 2 of them were doing concerts this morning — cable has changed the game entirely, and just like at this time last year, Fox News is garnering broadcast level numbers…That loud rumble NBC, ABC and CBS are hearing right now is Fox on their heels.”
