Katie Tur Now Reporting for NBC News

By Chris Ariens

WNBC reporter Katie Tur is now reporting for NBC News in Chicago. Tur is covering the NATO and G8 summit this weekend and reported on the Jennifer Hudson family murder trial earlier this month. An NBC News insider tells us that NBC brass was impressed with Tur’s work for WNBC so she’s going to be contributing to “Today” and “Nightly News”

28-year-old Tur, who briefly dated Keith Olbermann a few years ago, joined WNBC in 2009 from the Weather Channel where she was a digital journalist shooting, editing and reporting her own stories.

Prior to NBC, Tur reported for WPIX-TV and News 12 Brooklyn. Tur’s parents, Marika Gerrard and Bob Tur were helicopter news reporters in Los Angeles. The couple covered the 1992 L.A. riots, capturing the infamous Reginald Denny beating as well as OJ Simpson‘s slow-speed Bronco chase in 1994.
