July 2019 Ratings: Fox News Marks 37 Straight Months at No. 1 on Basic Cable; Posts Year-Over-Year Total Viewer Growth

Fox News Channel extended its impressive ratings winning streak through the month of July.

The network is finishing this month as the No. 1 basic cable network in total viewers across the 6 a.m. – 6 a.m. time period, marking 37 consecutive months that it has been No. 1 among total viewers in that particular daypart. FNC will also end the month of July as the most-watched basic cable network in prime time.

Additionally, the network marked 211 consecutive months as the No. 1 cable news network in total viewers, finishing way ahead of CNN, MSNBC, and the other cable newsers.

Compared with what the network averaged in July 2018, Fox News was +1% in total prime time viewers, and +1% in total day viewers.

However, the story was different among adults 25-54. The network was -15% in prime time and -11% in total day in the measurement from the previous July.

The average Nielsen live + same day impressions for July 2019:

  • Prime time (Mon-Sun): 2,438,000 total viewers /  378,000 A25-54
  • Total Day (Mon-Sun): 1,378,000 total viewers /  237,000 A25-54

On the programming front – Fox News was home to the top four cable news shows in the month of July, among both total viewers and adults 25-54: Hannity, Tucker Carlson Tonight, The Ingraham Angle and The Five.

Additionally, Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream beat MSNBC’s The 11th Hour with Brian Williams in the demo for the 5th consecutive month, and managed to edge its MSNBC competition in total viewers (1.4 million vs. 1.37 million)

Lastly, Fox & Friends won July in its time period, marking 211 consecutive months as the most-watched morning show on cable news.
