“The gates of Guantanamo were open to the media today,” CNN’s Ben Wedeman reported on Wednesday, but the journalists faced significant restrictions. “We’re told that we’re not allowed to speak or have any kind of contact with the detainees. We cannot videotape their faces or their profiles, and we’re not allowed to stray away from our military escorts. All of this, we’re told, is to protect the identities of what are called compliant detainees…Our videotape, some of it, was censored today, blacked out, this part of the regulations in force here in Guantanamo.” Here’s the CNN.com video…
