Journalists Expelled From Uzbek City

By Brian

CNN was one of the news networks blocked from reporting on the “bloody confrontations” in Uzbekistan. “Journalist watchdog group Reporters Without Borders has expressed concern over the expulsion of journalists from Andijan,” CNN.com says NTV and BBC TV were also expelled from Andijan. “When the authorities keep journalists away from a conflict zone it is most often to hide abuses committed there,” Reporters Without Borders said in a statement. “We are very concerned and urge President Islam Karimov to allow our colleagues to cover these events.”

> I can’t find any instances of CNN correspondents reporting from the scene. This morning on CNN, freelance journalist Ethan Wilensky-Lanford said: “The real difficulty here is that Uzbekistan is not letting in foreign journalists than the ones that are there now are not allowed to film anything. So it’s really difficult to get an accurate view on that.”
