Univision anchor Jorge Ramos has been trying to get an interview with presidential candidate and reality show star Donald Trump for some time. So yesterday, Ramos sent Trump a hand-written letter requesting an interview. Trump promptly posted it to his social media accounts. Univision confirms with TVNewser the letter is from Ramos and that it was written yesterday (we’ve scratched out Ramos’ phone number):

The letter arrived a day after Univision cut business ties with Trump, including not airing the upcoming Miss USA pageant. That decision followed comments Trump made during his presidential announcement speech in which he said, “The U.S. has become a dumping ground for everybody else’s problems. When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending their best.”

Univision’s Spanish-language competitor Telemundo and lead anchor Jose Diaz-Balart, did a 14-minute interview with Trump yesterday about the comments. “I love Mexico. I love Mexican people. I’m referring to people coming through the border, it’s very porous,” Trump explained.

“Univision News and the local news division will continue to provide comprehensive coverage of all candidates, including Mr. Trump, to ensure our audience continues to have access to all points of view,” the network’s statement read yesterday, which led Ramos to request the interview with Trump. The billionaire candidate is also suing Univision for breach of contract.
