John Miller, Peter Arnett Testify in Terror Trial

Two high profile former network newsers–former CBS and ABC News correspondent John Miller and former CNN correspondent Peter Arnett–testified Monday in the terror trial of Khaled al-Fawwaz, an accused al Qaeda lieutenant.

Miller testified that he met Al-Fawwaz in London in 1998 while attempting to land an interview with Osama bin Laden. The Associated Press’ Tom Hays reports Miller testified that Al-Fawwaz insisted that Miller’s production team “had far too many people and that only one or two could travel for this interview if it were to happen,” Miller said. “It was a little tense in the sense that he was concerned about the requirements.”

Arnett also testified to meeting Al-Fawwaz as part of negotiations leading to a bin Laden interview. Al-Fawwaz has pleaded not guilty in a conspiracy to bomb U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998. The bombings killed 224 people, including a dozen Americans.
