John Dickerson Will Anchor the CBS Evening News Next Week

By A.J. Katz

CBS News’ John Dickerson will be doing double duty next week, co-hosting CBS This Morning, and now anchoring the CBS Evening News.

The network’s announcement comes as Jeff Glor wraps up his 18-month run as CBS Evening News anchor after tonight’s telecast.

Norah O’Donnell was officially named the next anchor of the CBS Evening News at the start of the week, but she won’t step into the anchor chair on a permanent basis until sometime this summer. The newscast will move to Washington with her in the fall.

CBS News has committed to Dickerson anchoring the Evening News only for next week, which also happens to be upfronts week for the broadcast networks.

What happens after that remains to be seen.

Dickerson, like O’Donnell, is leaving CBS This Morning after next week. He’ll join 60 Minutes as a correspondent.

Gayle King will continue to co-host CTM and will be joined by Anthony Mason and Tony Dokoupil beginning May 20.

Variety was first to report.
