A Quintet of TVNewsers Make The Hill’s 50 Most Beautiful

By A.J. Katz

The Hill released its 13th annual 50 Most Beautiful list this morning, which is basically Capitol Hill’s version of People magazine’s annual ‘Most Beautiful’ issue. The majority of this year’s honorees are political aides and staffers, but there are a number of TVNewsers who made it onto this year’s list as well. They include John Dickerson, moderator of the CBS’ Face the Nation; NBC News National Correspondent Peter Alexander; CNN Justice correspondent Pamela Brown; CNN political reporter Eugene Scott; FOX 5 DC political reporter/host Ronica Cleary.

Dickerson, married and a father of two, admits that he has little free time these days. When he does, he likes to play the guitar, and enjoys hiking and kayaking. The D.C. native also runs, plays tennis, and focuses on a healthy diet, including lean meat and veggies.

Alexander, who is married and a father of two daughters, (who he refers to as “my nuggets”) also says he has little time for hobbies these days. But when he isn’t covering the presidential race or reporting for NBC’s Today, the Oakland, CA native displays a bit of a sweet tooth. Alexander’s go-to in the NBC News commissary? Cookies. “I’m a big fan,” he says.” When he is on the road, Alexander is often teased by his colleagues for going with ice cream over a glass of wine at the end of the day. “That’s like my little childhood treat.”

Brown, a justice correspondent for CNN, says her downtime is usually spent snuggled up on the couch with her dog, Bubs, a pit bull and boxer mix she rescued earlier this year. She’s also a big sports fan. Though she calls Lexington, Kentucky home, Brown is a graduate of the University of North Carolina and supports both the Wildcats and the Tar Heels. “I bleed both Carolina blue and Kentucky blue,” she says.

Eugene Scott is a true D.C. native. “I was born and raised in D.C. I grew up on the Hill in a really political family,” says Scott, adding he left the Nation’s Capital “before it was this sexy, cool, millennial” spot. A CNN political reporter, Scott’s travels have taken him to Denmark and Peru, and that’s just this year. He went to school in North Carolina and Massachusetts, has worked in Kansas City and Phoenix, and studied abroad in South Africa.

In its 13th year, the list is compiled through nominations. The Hill said it received more than 500 this time around.
