The 2015 ESPYS already decided to move from ESPN to ABC. Now the annual awards show has a host: Joel McHale.
“I’m thrilled to be hosting The ESPYS. Just ecstatic,” said McHale. “After my stunning victory in the Iditarod this year by only using six Bichon Frises and a lamb, I think the sports world saw me as the logical host.”
McHale, who hosted last year’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, will host the event that raises more than $1 million annually for cancer research. In addition to raising money, The ESPYS gather top celebrities from sports and entertainment to commemorate the past year in sports. The awards recognize major sports achievements, relive unforgettable moments and salute the leading performers and performances.
The ESPY Awards air July 15 at 8pmET on ABC from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles.
