Joe Scarborough’s Band to Play at South by Southwest

By Mark Joyella

MSNBC host Joe Scarborough will take the stage at South by Southwest Friday night–but he won’t be talking politics. Scarborough’s nine-person band, Morning Joe Music, will be performing–serving as the opening act for The Cult at Austin’s Moody Theater.

The band has a track, Austin, Texas, and you can listen to it here. In the meantime, this is how the venue describes the music:

Joe Scarborough has been a teacher, football coach, congressman, lawyer, news host, best-selling author, but he’s finally doing what he loves the most…his music! Joe has spent the past year recording his latest songs with styles that echo Beck, Gram Parsons & His Idols, The Beatles. But 30 years & hundreds of songs later, the sound is distinctly “Joe.”

If you can’t make Friday night’s show, Joe and the band will be back for another gig in Austin Saturday, and then playing at their regular spot in New York City, the Upper West Side bar, Prohibition.
