In a series of messages posted to Twitter, MSNBC host Joe Scarborough has defended himself against charges he has a too-cozy relationship with Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump.
“I’ve known Donald a long time,” the Morning Joe host writes. “But that relationship won’t affect our coverage.” Scarborough goes on to say he’s asked tough questions of Trump, and to suggest that the MSNBC town hall with Trump moderated by Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, was much tougher on the candidate than a Trump town hall that aired on CNN. “Not a close call on who was Trump friendly.”
Scarborough has been accused of being overly close to the GOP frontrunner, but said on Twitter Tuesday Trump is not his candidate. “I was going to vote for Jeb,” he said, and now plans to vote for John Kasich.
Asking of Trump's Muslim ban, "Is this what Germany looked like in 1933?" hardly seems like the Trump friendly pose. https://t.co/AGp1sxSKr6

Also compare our Trump Townhall with CNNs. Not a close call on who was "Trump friendly." https://t.co/E1l04UvjjO https://t.co/AGp1sxSKr6

I'm transparent when it comes to my support. I was going to vote for Jeb & told viewers, as I am with Kasich now. https://t.co/AGp1sxSKr6

We've known Donald for a long time, but that relationship won't effect our coverage (or my vote.) @jayrosen_nyu
