Joe Buck Was Peeing in a Trash Can While Calling a Green Bay Packers Game

One of Green Bay Packers fans’ favorite mid-game chants is: “Go Pack go!” Well on a Sunday back in 1994, the chant might as well have been: “Go Buck go.”

The longtime Fox Sports broadcaster Joe Buck told the NFL Network’s Dave Dameshek that he was actually peeing in a trash can in the middle of calling a Brett Favre touchdown pass back in 1994, Buck’s first year in the broadcast booth for Fox.

“I was 25 or 26,” recalled Buck. “The game was played in Milwaukee, not Green Bay, and the booth was nowhere near the bathroom. You had to go over catwalks and through people to get to there..” He then made a last-second decision to just go in a trash can that was in the broadcast booth.

“The 30-second break happens, but stage fright hits, and I can’t go because I have people around me, and I don’t start going until like 10 seconds left…”

Buck survived to tell the tale, and continues to be the network’s lead sportscaster to this day. What a lucky bastard.
