This will be a change of scenery for Cantore who is known for his field reporting during a 29-year career at the Atlanta-based network. “I have had the opportunity to cover weather events along with Sam for years and to join a morning show and work beside him is a thrill for me,” Cantore says.
“Jim Cantore is the Weather Channel’s strongest and most experienced voice in the field,” adds Champion, who joined the all-weather network in late 2013 after 25 years with ABC. “AMHQ” debuted last March, to lackluster ratings. A few months later, the show began cutting production positions. From its debut in March until the end of 2014, “AMHQ” is down -25% in viewers and down -29% in the demo vs. the show it replaced “Morning Rush.”
Cantore and Delgado join the show January 26.
