At the end of “Happening Now” this afternoon, co-anchor Jenna Lee announced she and husband Leif Babin are expecting their first child around, appropriately enough, Labor Day.
“As my team knows, I like to double and triple source everything before putting it on the air,” Lee joked. “After consulting a wide variety of different medical experts, I can confirm that my husband and I are expecting our first child…it’s very much ‘happening now.'”
Co-anchor Jon Scott asked Lee if part of her husband’s training as a former Navy SEAL dealt with how to “deal with a pregnant woman.”
“I can’t reveal all their top-secret training,” Lee lightheartedly responded, adding that for some reason, a lot of former Navy Seals end up having girls as children. Lee and Babin have decided not to learn the gender ahead of time. “It will just be breaking news when it happens,” Lee joked.
Lee joins “Today” show anchor Savannah Guthrie and CNN anchor Kate Bolduan who are also pregnant for the first time.
