Jeff Glor ‘Happy To Be Back’ To Weekend Edition of ‘CBS Evening News’

After a year on “The Early Show,” CBS News’ Jeff Glor will officially begin his new role as Sunday “Evening News” anchor this weekend.

Glor anchored the Saturday edition of “Evening News” for more than a year before being named news anchor for “The Early Show” in 2010.

“I’m very excited,” he tells TVNewser. “I missed doing Saturday nights. I’m happy to be back.”

Glor praised weekday anchor Scott Pelley, who took over for Katie Couric while Glor was away from the “Evening News” anchor desk.

“The biggest difference is who’s in that chair Monday through Friday,” Glor says. “I think that Scott and his team are doing an extraordinary job. And I think my job is to try to help them hold down the fort one night a week. It’s an honor, and it’s something I don’t take lightly.”

In addition to his “Evening News” duties, Glor will be a special correspondent on “CBS This Morning” during the week. His reporting for “This Morning” will be a mix of in-studio work and on-location travel.

“My charge immediately is to help ‘CBS This Morning’ any way I can, and I’m ready to do that,” Glor says. “I think the set, and the studio, and the team look fantastic. It just looks great. I think people will like what they see.”
