As CBS News chairman Jeff Fager and president David Rhodes settle in at the network, another executive is departing. TVNewser has learned SVP of communications Jeff Ballabon is leaving CBS after two years with the network. “With the change in leadership, it’s time for me to leave as well,” Ballabon writes in a memo to staff, obtained by TVNewser. Ballabon joins two other CBS News executives who’ve left in recent weeks as Fager and Rhodes begin their tenure at the top of the news division.

To my colleagues and friends at CBS News: Farewell.
I have come to deeply admire CBS Corporation and the journalists at CBS News. I was brought in by Sean to help him communicate his vision for CBS News and, with the change in leadership, it’s time for me to leave as well.
I’ve learned much from you and feel privileged to have been involved in some truly historic moments here; some exciting and some tragic, and some – like Walter Cronkite‘s passing, funeral and memorial – that make me feel proudly and indelibly a part of the CBS News family.
I enjoyed being part of a team that reports on the news. Your passion for that vital mission is inspiring and infectious. But I also enjoy being part of teams that make and shape the news. I’ve been blessed with alluring possibilities as to my own next chapter and hope imminently to announce a decision.
There are so many good and talented people at CBS News. Heartfelt wishes for every success and happiness and, to those with whom our work together has forged more personal bonds, I hope that we will continue our associations and friendships.
